Quordle vs Octordle vs Dordle: How Multi-Board Wordle Differs
Dordle has two boards, Quordle has four and Octordle has eight. See how guess limits and strategy change as the board count climbs, and where to start.

Once Wordle feels easy, the obvious next step is more boards. Dordle, Quordle and Octordle all do the same thing: you type one guess, and it is scored against several hidden words at once. What changes is how much pressure that puts on every guess.
If you are not sure where to start, Dordle is the gentle step up, Quordle is the one most players settle on, and Octordle is for people who enjoy bookkeeping as much as vocabulary.

What changes as you add boards
With one board, a guess is about the answer. With two, it is about two answers. By eight, a guess is mostly about information: a word that clears several letters across many boards is worth far more than one that happens to be a plausible answer on a single board.
The guess budget shows why. Wordle gives you six guesses for one word. Quordle gives nine for four, which is just over two per board. Octordle gives thirteen for eight, which is under two per board. Each step up leaves less room for a wasted turn.
How they feel
Dordle
Dordle is two boards sharing one keyboard, and it inspired Quordle. It is the easiest of the three to track: you can hold both boards in your head, and a good guess often helps both.
If four boards sounds like too much on a busy morning, this is where to practice. We do not publish Dordle hints.
Quordle
Quordle is four boards and nine guesses, and it is where strategy really shifts. Your first two guesses are best spent on letter coverage rather than trying to win, since each scores on all four boards at once. After that you start closing out the boards you know most about.
The common mistake is solving the easiest board first and neglecting coverage. Our Quordle hints give a clue for each word before any answer, which helps if one board has you stuck. If you like Quordle, see our look at games like Quordle.
Octordle
Octordle is eight boards and thirteen guesses, and it feels like a different game. You cannot hold eight boards in your head, so you keep a running list of what each one needs. The first three guesses should test fifteen different letters and solve nothing. After that, count your remaining guesses against your unsolved boards after every turn. When those two numbers are equal, you have no room left to explore.
Miss a single board and the day is marked incomplete, which is harsh but also what makes finishing feel good. See today’s Octordle hints if one board is dragging you down.
Which should you play
- You want a small step up from Wordle: Dordle.
- You want a proper challenge without it taking over your morning: Quordle.
- You like planning and tracking: Octordle.
- You are still shaky on Wordle itself: stay there and sharpen your openers with our best Wordle starting words.
