How to Solve Phrazle

Tips for cracking today's phrase puzzle.

Think in idioms and clichés

Phrazle phrases are mostly well-known idioms, proverbs, and common expressions. If your letters spell out something familiar, you are on the right track.

Green means exact, yellow means close

A green tile means that letter is in the right word and right position. Yellow means the letter appears somewhere in that word but in a different spot. Purple means the letter is in the phrase but in a different word entirely.

Count the words and word lengths first

The grid shows you exactly how many words there are and how long each word is. Use that structure to narrow down possible phrases before you start guessing letters.

Use common filler words to your advantage

Short words like "THE", "OF", "IN", "AND", and "A" appear constantly in phrases. If you see a 3-letter word slot, guessing a phrase that starts with "THE" is often a strong opening move.

Two puzzles per day: morning and afternoon

Phrazle resets twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. If you have already solved one, check back later for the second puzzle.

Work backwards from category clues

Each puzzle belongs to a category such as food, sports, or business. Once you spot the category in the feedback, focus your guesses on phrases from that domain.
